HARD AS NAILS
Alex's new album, Hard As Nails, was recorded, mixed and mastered by Steve Adey at Black Isle Recordings. The songs are all Alex's original compositions, apart from two where the lyrics are from old poems - The Tattered Outlaw from the poem 'The Donkey' by G K Chesterton, and The Old Violin from the poem 'The Touch of the Master's Hand' by Myra Brooks Welch. The musicians were Alex - vocals and guitars, Rob MacDonald - drums and backing vocals, Cailean Morison - piano, organ and backing vocals, Phil Onslow - bass, Donald Forsyth - electric guitar, and Olivia Ross (of The Shee) - fiddle.

Into the Light, was recorded and mixed by his son Doug and mastered by Stephano da Silva, Black Isle Recordings. The songs are all Alex's original compositions. The musicians were Alex, Rob, Cailean Morison, Phil Onslow, Rebecca Green, Jon Green, Vickie Ross, Steven Hammer and special guest Spider MacKenzie on harmonica.

A9 was engineered and produced by Doug MacDonald of Edinburgh Recording Company. The songs are mainly written by Alex along with a couple by his good friend Donnie Smith and one traditional song. The band consisted of Alex, Doug, Rob, Cailean Morison, Rebecca Green, Jon Green and Willie Fraser.

Like the River features a selection of Alex's songs together with a couple of traditional songs. It is the result of collaboration with his sons, Doug and Rob. Doug (Edinburgh Recording Company) engineered and mixed the recordings as well as playing a wide range of instruments, while Rob plays drums on several of the tracks. Other musicians who played on various tracks are: Donald Forsyth, Ismael Florit and Peter Strandberg.
